Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are you an authorised Allison dealer?

PROTRUCK is an independent heavy vehicle and transmission specialist. Our technicians are Allison factory trained, we've been servicing and repairing heavy vehicles since 2003, and our fully equipped Fountaindale workshop is backed by a large inventory of specialised transmission parts to keep your downtime to a minimum.

Every Allison transmission is inspected and tested before we recommend any work, so you get honest advice and only pay for what your transmission actually needs. We also provide back-up support after the job is done. Central Coast customers can drop in, and operators anywhere in Australia can freight their transmission to us and have it sent back once the work is complete.

  • Can you repair my Allison transmission if I'm outside the Central Coast?

Yes. We repair Allison transmissions for operators right across Australia, including Sydney, Newcastle, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra and Darwin, as well as regional areas throughout Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.

Simply have the transmission removed by your local mechanic and freight it to our Fountaindale workshop. Once the work is complete, we freight it back to you, ready to reinstall. We can include freight options in your quote, or you're welcome to arrange your own.

  • Can I drop my Allison transmission off at your workshop?

Yes. If you're on the Central Coast, you can bring the truck or the transmission straight to our Fountaindale workshop.

  • Can I arrange my own freight?

Yes. You're welcome to organise your own freight to and from our Fountaindale workshop if you prefer. Many operators already have freight arrangements in place, so if you're sending your Allison transmission from Sydney, Newcastle, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra or Darwin, you can use your preferred carrier. If you'd rather we handle it, just ask and we'll include freight options in your quote.

  • How often should an Allison transmission be serviced?

Service intervals depend on the fluid used and how hard the vehicle works. Buses, waste trucks and other stop-start vehicles usually need attention sooner than trucks doing highway work. Contact our team and we'll recommend a schedule for your vehicle.

  • Is it better to repair or replace my Allison transmission?

It depends on the condition of the unit. After inspecting it, we'll let you know if a service, repair or complete overhaul is the most sensible option.

  • Do you supply transmission parts?

Yes. We hold a large inventory of specialised transmission parts. Call or email us with your part numbers or transmission details.
